Find the Good Day: A Celebration of Compassion, Community, and Positive Change!

Now more than ever, the world needs optimism, positivity, and resilience.  Celebrated each September, “Find the Good Day” is more than just a date—it’s a movement that reflects the timeless spirit of Junior Leagues – a legacy of kindness, empowerment, and community transformation. Join us in spreading positivity and making a meaningful difference in our local communities, including Summit, New Providence, Chatham, and Berkeley Heights.

What is Find the Good Day?

Created by the Association of Junior Leagues International (AJLI), Find the Good Day is an annual event encouraging individuals, families, and organizations to unite as changemakers. It’s a day dedicated to spreading kindness, uplifting others, and inspiring hope through collective action.

Celebrate with Us

Join us in celebrating Find the Good Day as we continue the inspiring legacy of compassion that began over a century ago. “Find the Good Day” is an opportunity for individuals, families, and organizations to come together as changemakers, creating a ripple effect of positivity throughout the community. It’s a day to reflect on the goodness within ourselves and find inspiration in the acts of kindness we’ve witnessed and participated in throughout the year.

Community Invitation

This year’s activities have passed, but we encourage you to continue to Find the Good throughout the year. Read below to learn how we celebrated in 2025 and keep an eye out for our 2026 celebration in September!

JLS invites the community to join in the festivities! This year’s celebration features a free wellness session at the Community Center in Summit, NJ:

  • 7:00 PM – Gentle yoga flow led by JLS member Shweta Gupta
  • 7:30–8:00 PM – Uplifting Zumba class with Jacquetta Perry-Bond, a certified instructor who teaches weekly at the Summit YMCA.

Space is limited.

Can’t attend? You can still take part.  If you can’t make the event, JLS encourages everyone to take action on this special day. Whether through a good deed, volunteering, or simply spreading positivity through kind words, every act of goodness can help create lasting change.

Share the Good

JLS encourages participants to share photos of their acts of kindness on social media. Tag @jlsummit and use the hashtags #FindTheGoodDay and #jlsummit to be featured on JLS platforms. Help highlight the dedication, passion, and hard work that goes into spreading kindness and positivity. “Find the Good Day” is a reminder that acts of kindness can happen every day -– and together, we can ignite a chain of positivity that extends far beyond one day.

To mark this worldwide initiative, the Junior League of Summit is asking for your financial support. Donations of any amount are welcome. You can find more information and make your donation by clicking here https://summit.jl.org/support-us/

How JLS is Making a Difference

JLS is committed to making a difference in our local communities. Here are examples of how we get involved:

  • Grants: The Community Grants Program enables the Junior League of Summit to support 501(c)3 organizations creating change in our service area. JLS grants program focuses on organizations advancing leadership for meaningful community impact through volunteer action, collaboration, and training. It is important to JLS that the projects and organizations these grants fund serve and enrich the full diversity of the local communities.
  • Scholarships: The JLS awards scholarships to graduating High School seniors and a Continuing Education scholarship for Women. These scholarships are awarded to individuals who demonstrate a commitment to voluntarism in their community.
  • Volunteerism: By actively researching and responding to community needs, Junior League members volunteer for a variety of service projects, ranging from smaller, one-time events to larger, ongoing community engagements.
